Sony will give Xperia Z1S and Z2 buyers free copies of Michael Jackson's next album

Michael Jackson's posthumous album XSCAPE is slated to be released May 13. When the King of Pop's next project is released, Sony will distribute free digital copies to owners of its Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1S handsets. The music will be distributed through the Xperia Lounge app, following a similar path laid out by Samsung's partnership with Jay-Z's Magna Carta release in 2013. Sony also promises that the album will have a unique sound when listened to on these devices because it has been engineered to sound good using the Xperia Z2 drivers and the bundled headset.

Like all promotional giveaways, there are some stipulations that may make it tough for some people to redeem the offer. Sony warns that "availability may differ by market," so buyers in some countries may be unable to receive a free copy of XSCAPE. Only phones purchased before May 31, 2014 will be able to receive a free copy, and buyers will have until June 30, 2014 to redeem the offer.
